SEMI PERMANENT MAKEUP REMOVAL
Have you had semi-permanent makeup and are unhappy with the results? Have you been getting semi-permanent makeup for years but feel the colour isn’t lasting anymore? Has your semi-permanent makeup faded to an unsightly colour, such as pink, grey, or blue? We can help! While laser tattoo removal has traditionally been the go-to method for removing unwanted semi-permanent makeup, salt and saline removal has become increasingly popular in recent years and is our preferred technique here at Ink & Glow. Not only does salt and saline removal provide results comparable to laser treatments, but it is also much gentler on the skin.
WHAT IS SALINE TATTOO REMOVAL?
The process involves the removal or lightening of unwanted semi-permanent makeup using a specially formulated saline solution by Botched Ink® and a digital tattoo machine. Our technician will apply the saline solution to the tattoo in the same manner that the original tattoo was applied, but instead of using ink, the Botched Ink® saline solution is implanted into the skin. When Botched Ink® is implanted into the skin, the area quickly dries out. If the skin contains tattoo pigment, it will also dry out, lifting and removing the pigment during the skin's natural healing process.
The client pictured had 3 botched ink removal sessions. Original brows were done in a different country.
SALINE REMOVAL VS LASER TATTOO REMOVAL
The saline removal method is safer and gentler than laser treatments because it is an all-natural solution approved by the FDA. It allows the area to be re-tattooed once the skin has healed. Therefore, this method should be considered before opting for laser removal.
In our experience, laser tattoo removal can cause the following issues:
-
Risk of scarring
-
Cannot remove "skin stains" caused by certain pigments with iron oxides, often leaving behind a yellow or pink colour after treatment.
-
Works well on black pigments but poorly on other colours including red, green, yellow and white, these colours make up the colour brown
-
Pigment changes after laser making it deeper and harder to remove
HOW MANY BOTCHED INK REMOVAL SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
Results may vary based on several factors, including your skin's condition, health profile, healing ability, the type and colour of the pigment being lightened, the depth of pigment placement, the technique originally used, and your adherence to aftercare instructions.
If a tattoo is less than two months old, the pigment is not fully encapsulated in the skin. If it is less than a year old, there will likely be minimal skin staining. In such cases, the process may require three sessions.
If the area has undergone multiple tattooing sessions (three or more), the skin will be more saturated with pigment and may show some residual staining, especially if iron oxide pigment was used (which can indicate poor quality, inadequate blending, or unsuitable colour choice). When new pigment is applied over old, deep, or saturated pigment, the new pigment will lift off first, revealing the older pigment beneath. In such cases, it is likely you will require more than three sessions.

PEOPLE WHO AREN'T CANDIDATES FOR BOTCHED INK REMOVAL
Saline removal cannot be performed on those with:
-
Any open or active acne spots or wounds, or active herpes outbreaks in the area being treated.
-
Allergies to Aloe Vera
-
Skin malignancies or raised moles
-
Those taking blood thinning medication or have Hepatitis B
-
Unstable diabetes
-
Active keloids
HOW LONG SHOULD YOU LEAVE BETWEEN EACH REMOVAL SESSION?
It is always recommended to have a course of three treatments for Botched Ink. After your first treatment, you should wait eight weeks before scheduling your second session. Then, wait an additional eight weeks before your third session. If you require any further sessions beyond the third, please wait twelve weeks before scheduling.
Once the satisfactory amount of pigment has been lifted and you would like to be tattooed again, you must wait 4 months from the last saline removal session in order not to compromise the healed result of your new tattoo.

After extensive research I decided to use this company as Hannah answered my questions professionally and I felt confident in her abilities. I had a SkinPen treatment and I love the glow it’s given me and definitely will be back for another treatment, I may try LED light therapy as well! The studio is very clean and in a lovely setting.

Amazing results! I had micro-pigmentation performed by Hannah. I was sceptical of the procedure before meeting her, however she was so knowledgeable and reassuring - I decided to go ahead and I’m so glad I did! Previous bald patches I had on my scalp, now blend in with the tone of my hair. It’s saved me thousands (as I was considering a transplant!). Can’t recommend enough.
Thank you Ink & Glow!

I cannot recommend Hannah enough, she’s a complete perfectionist who’s very meticulous at what she does…great for anyone thinking about microblading. I now have beautiful shaped brows with perfect hair strokes!! I couldn’t of asked for more. She’s a medically trained professional who makes you feel comfortable and at ease, I couldn’t be more pleased with the end results. I will definitely be returning!
