Would you like to take a peek inside my makeup bag? I have come across many of my favourite makeup products through recommendations from others, so I want to share my current makeup must-haves.
Of course, I start with a layer of SPF. I'm not wed to any particular brand for my SPF, at the moment I'm using Elemis' Pro-Collagen Skin Protection Fluid, it has excellent protection credentials and is great for wearing with makeup. If you're interested in seeing some of my other SPF recommendations, head to my blog post "SPF is your BFF."
Then I move on to my primer, at the moment I’m loving Armani’s Luminous Silk Hydrating Primer for all the dewy feels. This primer adds a natural-looking luminosity to my skin and helps to create a seamless and even makeup application. It nourishes and moisturizes the skin with Shea Butter and Glycerin and helps my makeup stay put even after a busy day in the clinic.
I don't use foundation for my base. Instead, I prefer something lighter for daytime wear, so I use Hourglass Veil hydrating Skin Tint. I love this product, it evens out my skin tone and helps with any age-related pigmentation.
I then move on to my concealer. I suffer from dark circles and the occasional hormonal breakout, so I prefer a concealer with a heavier consistency. I'm using Benefit's Boi-Ing Cakeless concealer at the moment, which provides good coverage and doesn't settle into my fine lines.
I then apply bronzer to my cheeks and eye area. I prefer bronzers without glitter because in certain lights, all you see is the glitter, and as a woman approaching 40, that's not the vibe. The bronzer I’m using at the moment is Clarins’ Ever Bronze Compact Powder.
When it comes to my eye area, I typically don't use eyebrow pencils or eyeliner because I have permanent makeup. Instead, I prefer to use NYX's "The Brow Glue" in the shade dark brown to groom my brows. It provides strong hold throughout the day and enhances the definition of my brows. As for mascara, I’m using Burberry’s Ultimate Lift mascara. It doesn't clump, and you can build it up to achieve the desired impact.
And finally, for my lips I love love love Kevyn Aucoin’s Unforgettable Lip Definer in shade Divine. I have recommended it to so many of my friends and they all love it too. I then apply a thin layer of Vieve’s lip dew in shade Pesca. It gives you the perfect nude lip with all the glossy feels too.
My makeup routine takes about 10 minutes in the morning. My skincare routine is a whole other story. Comment below if you'd like to hear about my go-to skincare heroes in my next blog post!
